I have the following entry in the web.config file

<!-- allow large file uploads -->
      <httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true"
      maxRequestLength="2097151" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"
      executionTimeout="18000" />

According to this, it should allow to download files upto 5 hours (18000 seconds). Right? But users are reporting that the download operation gets aborted after 3 hours. Any reason as to why this would happen? Should the requestlengthdiskthreshold value be increased? What is the difference between maxRequestLength and requestLengthDiskThreshold. I looked up msdn and it said "Specifies the limit for the input stream buffering threshold, in KB" for both maxRequestLength and  requestLengthDiskThreshold. Thanks in advance

you need to increase requestLengthDiskThreshold as well, Though I always thought, this affects upload only.

How much should i set the requestLengthDiskThreshold value to be? Should it be the same as maxrequestlength? So what controls the download? Is it the requestLengthDiskThreshold and maxrequestlength settings within web.config? or is it some other setting within IIS? Or something within machine.config. I have always thought that those 2 settings (requestLengthDiskThreshold and MaxRequestLength) affect only upload and NOT download. Is it not true?
