I have a site I orginally set up eternally, something like:
   www.mydomain.com/dnn

I then added an new instance of dnn on my development machine.
   I having IIS point to a diferent local directory with DNN installed [C:\dnn]
   I have the alias a virtual app setup in IIS on the dev machine as dnn.
   I'm connecting to the DB of the original install.
   I have an alias in the portals section as: localhost/dnn

Problem, when I try to view it from my dev machine as http://localhost/dnn it takes me to http://www.mydomain.com/dnn.

Very frustrated.  Any help???

I think I've been able to track this down.  Jeff's post of stopping IIS on the external machine helped.  Once I did that.. I got a ton of errors.  I think DNN tries the alias you are on, if it isn't working, it tries the other.  I'm not if this is true or not, but it was my experience.

Ends up, I was missing some DLLs in the BIN directory.
