 When I create a child portal based upon a template, all files are copied to the new portal subdirectory /skins except for the ASCX files.  They don't get copied over.  I must FTP them to the proper directory, then all is fine.

Any ideas on why just the ASCX files are omitted?

I guess they are not part of the package, if you parse the skin they will be.

Sorry, they will be generated for the portal I meant, obviously they will not magically appear in the template ;-)

 They magically disappear!

I tried parsing the skin package and creating a new template.  Same results.  Weird.

Has there ever been a solution found for the missing skin.ascx files?

I install a skin into a portal (at portal level) parsed and not parsed and create a template with this portal.

When I create a new portal using this template all files are in the new portal except for the skin.ascx and container.ascx file.

These do show up in the template code and I’ve even tried to modify the template code such as:

        <file>

            <contenttype>application/octet-stream</contenttype>

            <extension>ascx</extension>

            <filename>skin.ascx</filename>

            <height>-1</height>

            <size>7084</size>

            <width>-1</width>

        </file>
with no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas?
