My ISP doesn't use port 25 for SMTP and I can't find any configuration option to specify an alternate port.  Is there a way to use a port other than 25 for sending mail?

Thanks.

Steve

No. DNN does not allow you to use SMTP servers on ports other than 25. See my post here for further details:

This really needs to be fixed in the next release: it's 2 or 3 extra lines of code!

This is also effecting "google apps for your domain" (gmail).  I signed up yesterday for the beta to try it out and it seems they require an SSL connection even for your own custom domain:

smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587

Looks like I'm off to modify the core but I would agree this should be fixed asap.  It is only a few additions and with no easy workaround, this is gonna hurt all those non-profits and education areas google is trying to push their apps to.

Good news is that the SSL issue has been reported and will (hopefully) make it into the next release

By the way, here is the Gemini entry for SMTP SLL enhancement, in case you want to keep tabs on it.
