Hi,

I have already had some comments from customers that my dnn-portals are slow. Does anyone have tips on how to speed up your dnn-portal?

Any good modules for speeding up your dnn-portal?

greetings,

Anthony,

you need to be more specific:

  • are your portals slow on initial startup?
  • is site coming up slow initially when a new guest visits or on subsequent pages as well?
  • is page load slow for authenticated users?

What are your DNN performance settings (in Host settings)?

Do you use module output caching in module settings?

How did you specify IIS App Pool recycle?

Hi Sebastian,

I leave the DNN performance settings to their default settings.

Concerning the IIS App Pool, all my portal use the Classic .NET App Pool.

I have noticed, my portals can be slow on computers with low connection speed. On my own site: www.webmove.be I have a page, contact, on that page I have a Dynamica forms module (DataSprings). For some reason this contactpage loads very slow. I wonder if this Dynamic forms module is causing this.

Thanks for your help.

Anthony

Anthony,

> since DNN 4.9.0, DNN is able to run in integrated mode with significantly improved performance.

> Besides, you should turn on heavy caching and gzip compression (no whitespace filter!!!) in Host Settings.

> Next is using module output caching for all static modules like text/HTML w/o Tokens.

Regarding the contact form, it renders fast after first visit - maybe due to output caching.

> Make sure, your database is in shape, check size of data file and transaction log.

> remove all unused code (especially larger modules)

> consider using a keep alive service (e.g. from Host-Tracker.com or mon.itor.us)

HTH
