I have a DNN 5.01.04 installation on a windows server 2008 box running iis7 and using MS SQL 2005 for the database. I am trying to install the forums module (4.5.3) and it keeps timing out. The error message is pasted below.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Request timed out.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

Stack Trace:

[HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out.]

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4200; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4016

The module seems to be installed. It appears in the module definitions page. It doesn't look right on the 'edit extentsion' page however (the boxes under 'available' and 'assigned' don't appear).

It produces several errors when I uninstall it also. Here is the uninstall log.

Other modules I have tried are installing and working OK but this one is prodcing this behaviour consistently and I lost as to why. If anyone can shed some light on whats going wrong I'd be most appreciative.

It looks like you have a partially installed module, I would look at un-installing the module, and trying this again.

Be sure that all files have been removed from the file system as well as all database tables and procedures.

Mitchel, that's what the user is trying to do.

Note: if you uninstall, you will loose all content. restore a backup to revert to previously used version

But if uninstalling, I agree, validate everything, before reinstalling.
