I have installed DNN (5.01.03) on my laptop running XP.  The files have been installed in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke.  The IIS virtual directory is also named dotnetnuke and points at the root.  IIS is using port 8080 in order to avoid conficts on port 80.  Everything works fine with the default installation (localhost:8080/dotnetnuke).

I want to be able to set up any number of parent portals to try out different concepts but no matter what I try, I cannot seem to get this to work.  My understanding is that I should set up another virtual directory within IIS that points at the original dotnetnuke installation folder.  I set up one named personalsite in IiS pointed at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke.  All settings for the personalsite virtual directory are the same as for dotnetnuke.  I initially set up the portal alias as localhost/personalsite (patterned after localhost/dotnetnuke based on original install) and also tried localhost:8080/personalsite but niether seems to bring up the site.  If I enter a URL of localhost:8080/personalsite a get a "web page cannot be found" message.  If I leave the browse directory option set in IIS for personalsite, I am able to display the directories, so it finds the site but no pages.

Can I configure multiple portals running on XP and if so, how?

Thanks
