I am using a 3rd party module to display embeded Secure pdfs on a webpage.   Because the files are secure, I am using LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=[FileID] and that has worked until my FileID has reached 1000.  For some reason, I can't just use the FileID when it's > 1000 but it still works whe the FileID < 1000.

My question is, how can I generate the encrypted value needed for the fileticket= value?  Is this using the same encryption method as the password?  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am in a bind now.

Alternately, any suggestions on how else I would display secure documents embeded in the page using a different method.

There is a method in the API that provides you with tools for using LinkClick.  I believe it is DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.LinkClick.

Thanks for the reply Mitch.  I found the function call in the VB code that looks like it converts the FileID using the Portal GUID coverted to a string.  Still trying to figure out how to actually use that as I am not a programmer. (I only play one on tv).

Any idea why it would break at FileID = 1000?

try:

string secureLink = DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.LinkClick("FileId=90", PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabID, ModuleId);

should give you:

/dnn/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=xxxxxxxxxxxx&tabid=xx&mid=xx

The new api is:

// to access file via linkclick
FileLinkClickController linkclickcontroller = new DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileLinkClickController();
fileticket = linkclickcontroller.GetFileLinkClick(PdfFile);

pfdfile is a fileinfo object
you get bac kthe complete link, which is nice, e.g.: "/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=tUicp_RgY54%3d&portalid=0"
