Hi - well I haven't been here for a while, and whoa the forums have changed, so I don't know where to post things anywhere, but the search worked, which did impress me, even though it didn't answer my questions.

I downloaded and installed a build of CE 5.2.1 on a url.

I then created a mini page of how I wanted a blank template to be and exported it.

I then went to the site wizard to test it and used the 'replace' method to replace what I had and the end result was

>> No Admin Tabs and no access what soever to them.

>> A page called home_old

>> Portal no longer useable

To get around this I had to create another child portal, eg.. url.com/portal method and go into the portal and add in the alias I used for the initial Portal 0 build.

I have never seen this before, but it rendered the portal absolutely useless. None of the tabs worked - well there were none except host tabs, no admin tabs, nothing.

The only thing I did that was different was delete the default portal template from the root directory and overwrite it since I wanted to apply to our master builds and we had our own set information we wanted displayed. Could the fact I used the default name have anything to do with it?  I didn't think it would as we've worked with portal templates extensively.

Thanks - any suggestions would be appreciated - but it does make me wonder if something is amiss based on another thread in which someone lost their host settings when deleting a portal?

Thanks - and happy 2010 to one and all.

I noticed this starting with 5.2.

I’m guessing it has something to do with the new caching provider. To recover your site you will need to add the “recycle bin” and “site wizard” to a page (I added them to the host tab). First empty the “recycle bin” then go to “host settings” and clear the cache now you can run the site wizard and it should work.

Thanks for that update Robert - I will remember that. I was able to use the site wizard when I created a child portal, used that template, but used ignore.

I wish I had that handy work around before I ditched the portal, but now I know. I guess it will be fixed eventually. It's a bit frustrating since we had such a long period of time for some reason where the wizard didn't work, and I was so glad to have it working again.

But the good thing is there is a work around.

Cheers

Nina
