Foolishly, upgraded to DNN 5.01.04 as per Godaddy recommendation and have had nothing but problems since.

First, we could not login as admin or superuser at all.  Then, got language null errors everywhere and all modules were missing.  Ran the language SQL script.  That solved some problems.  No more language errors and we were able to re-add the modules.

No we can login and access some pages but not all.  When we can login, we are unable to access all areas on Admin and Host menus, ex. skins, languages, module definitions pages.  We get a blank page, or "Unauthorized to edit user accounts." or the error page below.  Also, extensions are unavailable/disabled.

We appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

Server Error in '/db' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

  <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
   <system.web>
       <compilation debug="true"/>
   </system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

try to clear local browser cache and restart application on the server (e.g. by saving web.config).

check Admin :: languages for "English US" being available, otherwise add it w/o fall back language selected, but enabled. Next save site settings.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Tried clearing the cache and restarting.  No luck there.

The Admin / Languages page is blank.  Nothing appears.

English is selected as the Language in Site Settings.

Any other ideas?

If Admin :: Languages is empty, there happened a significant upgrade issue. you may try re-running upgrade scripts 5.00.00 to 5.01.04 from inside Host :: SQL, ignore any issues - and start with a database backup!!!

HI ALL,
Do we have any other contractive advise/solution for this problem?
I am getting it after I have added a module to a page in DNN 5.1.4 .
