 Hello DNN Guys,

I have a site that I have worked on for a few months and the initial host address was www.testsite.ie  I have easily and successfully added additional portal aliases to the site, eg www.mycustomersdomain.com and all works ok.

My question is whether there is a way to change the original first alias of the site from www.testsite.ie.  IOW, this is the primary way to address the site in admin mode and it looks a bit scrappy to see test site as the portal 0 first alias.

It is not a problem and I can live with it but it would be neat if I could just edit and and change it to ww.mycustomersdomain.com instead or testsite.

TIA for your time

I suggest 2 ways:

- You could login on one other portal of your instance with superuser account and go to "Host - Portals" in order to select first portal.
Then, you could edit existing portal alias.

- You could add new alias for your portal with admin account with Site Settings area, connect on it and remove old alias.

Hopes that help.

No, neither of the two proposals give the desired result

initial address can only be changed via UI when being logged in using a different alias.

However, another option always is altering the value directly in the database, table PortalAlias.

 Hello Sebastian,

thanks for the reply,

the alternate URL is a fine option, but the db option is even better as it avoids the three step process of create, login and delete.

Regarding Stéphane's post, am I correct in assuming that it is not possible to log into a second portal as the host account?  Unless I misunderstand something, I only ever saw the admin account on additional portals.  IOW, I do not know how to allow host to log into portal 1 or 2.

Thanks for the info about the db, of course, I should have consider that option.  But do  you suggest avoiding changing the portal initial URL (any possible negative repurcussions), or can we change it freely?

thanks

Mark
