Hi,
I have an issue when attempting to login, the captcha image link is broken in ff or in ie it's a red x.
I have spent the last three days trying all the different suggestions listed in various sites around the globe.
including...
accessing the database and modifing the value in ModuleSettings - use captcha "False", however the captcha is still on the login page, albeit broken.
Checking all and revalidating file system permissions for guest user, it should have read access to the (virtual) path of the image.
Tried editing out the captcha in web.config, login.aspx, and login.aspx.vbs - all creates more errors.
- restored the backup of the database, and replaced all files via FTP from the backup on the 1st Feb when Captcha was displaying correctly - this has Made NO difference, captcha is still broken.
A little background...
This is an older DNN install, from about 16 months ago, version 3.5? unsure. Recently the webhosting expired, not an issue - renewed it. However I had the host setting set within DNN to show expiry on the 28th Jan, 2010. now every page has the message that the web hosting for this site has expired blah blah blah. - this wouldn't be an issue as I could fix this if I could login to the site!
as this is an older site the skin isn't compatible with DNN v5 so at present a upgrade is out of the question - I believe, unless someone can convince me otherwise.
I know that none of the site (Files or database) had changed in over 12months and on the 1st Feb 2010 I had created a backup of the database and FTP the entire site down to load in my own environment here.
after this, on the 1st Feb I was still able to see the captcha image and login. - so don't believe that it was the backup of the database that cause this.
I'm starting to get a little frazled by this now, IF anyone could help fix this I'd be very much appreciative.
Regards Daniel
