I am not sure what could be causing this issue other than maybe some user error on his end because I am not in front of his machine.  However I did read about issues with a firewall and logging in.

I removed the remember me option since it was causing problems (Possibly a persistant cookie setting issue?) since then I have had no issues with having to repeat logging in.

I am however having a problem with a person trying to log in behind a hardened firewall.  I am thinking maybe has to do with the database security settings possibly.

I setup a new appPool just for this one DNN app instance with its own user and password that matches the username and password in the database.  I am using sql express on the local machine server.

I can use the user password connection string however the integrated security string I have not had any success.  I was thinking this may be a safer way to connect to this database and keep the plain text off the machine.

I must be missing a step to do this properly however.  Is it that much more secure to have it connect with integrated security rather than the SQL username/password way... and if so then what step am I skipping?  or possibly what connection string am I suppose to be using in the web.config file.

Thank you.

A user logging into your site has nothing to do with your app pool account, the database account or access or anything else in that area.  If only one user is having problems, it's that user or that user's system.  Test the same user name from another system, one that's not behind the firewall.  Normally a firewall will let anyone log into DNN on the WAN side of the firewall, but the firewall could be restricting access to specific sites, cookies, etc.  As far as DNN is concerned, traffic only flows on port 80, or 445 if you have SSL configured, so they should check their firewall for that being open to your site.
