Hi there

I have a DNN portal for which I can no longer login using the original admin account created when the portal was created. I suddenly started getting a "Login failed" error, even though I hadn't changed the password, and I have also tried the SQL 'hack' where a known password and salt are copied into the record for the the troublesome account. When I login as the host superuser, I can view the account details for the portal, and the account is not locked out. I was able to reset and change the password for the portal admin account, but still I get the login failure error for the account. I can create a new account for the portal and give it an administrator role.

What is the best way to approach this? Has the original account become corrupted, and if so should I try and replace it with a new portal admin account? At the moment it does not appear that I can delete the original portal admin account, but I'm really not sure if that would be a good idea anyway. Can anybody advise me of the most sensible way to proceed?

Paul, I honestly haven't seen anything like this considering you can login with other accounts. I would first look at the logs (DNN Event Viewer) as a super user to see what it says when you attempt a failed login (re-create the failed login again), this may point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately I did try this already, but the error it logs is so brief, just saying 'Login failure' that I didn't bother to mention it - should I expect more verbose logging if everthing is working as it should? Is this something that can be configured?
