unfortunately, sitemap is missing an option to turn off this feature on page and module level (some modules like announcements would implement it per item and would need to hide it in module settings as well). please add an enhancement request into the issue tracker at support.dotnetnuke.com

I hit this also recently, I could not find any settings in the Taxonomy Manager module to control this; however, I commented a section in the my skin (the default) and this seemed to hide it for now; at least until they document or expose a setting.

The change I made was to DotNetNuke\Website\Portals\_default\Skins\MinimalExtropy\index.ascx, specifically commented the "Taxonomy Section":
