Hello,

I want to upgrade my site to DNN 5.4.3 from DNN 5.2.3 but I do not want to use the DNN messaging feature for my users. Can I delete the Messaging module from the User Profile page and stop the Messaging Dispatch scheduled task to disable this feature? Also, is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks!

Matt

This is an area where we haven't done enough testing I suspect. Please install a fresh copy on your localmachine, make the modifications you suggest, and see if it works for you (please test your standard notifications with something like papercut). Any issues you find please log them in support.dotnetnuke.com Thanks...

Hello Alex, On my test system, I deleted the Messaging Module from my User Profile page and I stopped the Messaging Dispatch secheduled task. Then, I used the mail "Mail Me" feature of Documents Exchange Professional (DMX) and the document was mailed to my email address. I am a little hesitant upgrading my site and doing this on my site since you said there has not been enough testing.

Hmm, that does not seem good.

I have implemented Ventrian's private messaging and it works very nicely.  I do not want anything going to the built-in messaging module.  Are you saying that there is no way to configure this?

Cheers
