In the wake of DNN 5.4.3 being pulled, I'm facing a difficult situation. I upgraded our production server to 5.4.3 after several reviews indicated its stability and that it fixed some problems we were having.

We've been running on 5.4.3 for a couple of days with our clients making changes to their sites including some major work preparing to launch 4 related sites next week (i.e. teams of people working around the clock). I can't roll back our database and files and risk losing some of our largest clients (i.e. going out of business). At the same time, we are seeing some major issues with security in some of our third-party modules (i.e. site maps that are exposing admin pages to guests). How can I resolve this situation - and quickly?

Also, it sure would have been nice to have received an email from DNN or an alert at the top of my sites to indicate the rollback as soon as it happened (the same mechanism that indicates an update is available should also warn when the version in use has been rolled back).

Thanks, John

John,
if your site is running fine and all 3rd party modules you are using, you may safely continue running 5.4.3 (and maybe upgrade to 5.4.4 when available). The showstopper that will be fixed in 5.4.4 is a breaking change in a core API used by a number of 3rd party modules which are now broken and to protect their developers, the download has been suspended.
regarding sitemap.aspx, please make sure not to be logged into DNN when viewing the file. AFAIR, there had been a caching issue reported lately and I am not sure, whether the fix has already been included in 5.4.3/5.4.4. However, each page checks permission when called, i.e. even when knowing the page addresses, noone can use the admin modules without being granted.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
