Hi!

I'm getting this error when trying to update Site Settings.

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.cmdUpdate_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I'm running the latest version of DotNetNuke, which is 4.0.3

Thanks

Do you have anything showing in the site log? That might give more information as to why the error is occuring.

Hi Nina,

Thanks for the reply. The problem was about the roles and permissions. The portal is hosted by a hosting company and I don't have full control over the physical server. The SQL Server has two tables for users, roles and users that are included in a role namely, asp_users and users table. When I add a new user and add it to a role, i also have to add it manually to asp_usersinroles through SQL Server because it was not added automatically. That causes the error.

Well, i didn't expect that the roles and permissions was the problem because DNN reported diffrently.

Thanks again.

Richard

*sigh*.. man these errors really do make it hard to decipher - I think I'll add that one to my .. have you tried this ... when the .. "do something when everything esle fails" situation occurs..

Thanks for posting this - based on that informatiom I'm wondering if it's not the cause of other things that are entirely out of the end users' control.

Glad it's fixed.
