I have tried everything with regards to email and smtp for all of these modules and nothing works.  I have set the host smtp and the DataSprings Forms and Registration email to the same email address.  I am still unable to get these modules to work.  They worked fine in 5.2.3 and now in 5.4.4 they do not work.  I do not understand how there are debates surrounding this issue.

Has anyone been able to successfully get DataSprings Forms and Registrations to work?  If so, please be specific.  I am not looking for best practice or theory.  I would really like to know if someone who owns these modules has been able to make them work in 5.4.4?

In all of my testing there seems to be some disconnect in 5.4.4 that did not exist in 5.2.3.

Thanks,
D. Kyle

So your issue is on a 3rd parity module.  On DNN 5.3 there was a bracking changes and adding a messaging system to DNN.  This can caused some brocken Methodes on teh 3rd parity module.

We cant supporting a 3rd parity module here on the forum.  Perhaps a other contributor of the community knows a solution.  But I think you have to contact DataSprings for support.

To check the event log for some reorted issues on your module could be helpfull!

Matthias - Hi... Although I would normally agree with you in this particular situation I know of 3 separate vendors that are having the issue and also some reports with the issue directly using the DNN Admin/Newsletters functionality. I can point you to the other threads but I think either way I was informed from Shaun that its addressed in the 5.5 release. I don't think that this is found in very many areas of DNN though because DNN typically only sends emails out in TEXT format (such as registration, event logs, etc...). The issues for this error are only when its HTML because it pegs the CPU because of a new REGEX Match/Expression. We are working on an updated build of 5.4.4 to give to our customers that will avoid this but I also think the fix will be in 5.5. Here is the specific post that its happening in areas of the DNN Core without any 3rd party module. http://web3.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/108/postid/377051/scope/posts/Default.aspx You might want to check out this blog post I wrote up yesterday: http://www.datasprings.com/News/Blog/tabid/980/PostID/13/DotNetNuke-544-Email-Issues-w/-Modules-%28and-possible-solution%29.aspx I do think though that there is a Gemini issue on it too. http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=12939&PROJID=2 -Chad www.datasprings.com

Fellow DotNetNukers,

Chad at DataSprings just released a modification for DNN 5.4.4 which completely solves the email issues.  It not only solves the challenges for DataSprings modules but has provided a solution for all other modules I have installed on my server related to DNN.

This has been a long and arduous process arriving at a solution which works.  I have heard many variations to the problem and have read countless hours of posts.  I am not certain what DataSprings did to resolve the issue however, what I do know is that 5.4.4 smtp works flawlessly after a couple hours of testing due to the solution.

If you are DataSprings customer please contact them to learn more about the solution.

Thanks to everyone involved in this spirited discussion and special thanks to DataSprings for a speedy solution.
