Hopefully, someone can help me. I have installed a new copy of DNN 5 on my hosted server at NetworkSolutions.com. I am trying to configure my websites, but the time between updates is killing me! Here is an example using the suggestions for turning off authentication providers, suggested as a way to speed up logins. While logged in as host admin, I click HOST / Extensions. 45 secs pass, and then the extensions page is displayed.  I locate and click the edit icon to edit an extension. 60 secs pass until the edit extension page is shown. I click the Enabled checkbox to disable the extension, and then I click the update extension icon to save the changes. 90 secs later, the page returns, updated. This is the way I am forced to navigate through the program.

I would really like to make use of this program, but this is simply impossible. This can not be the normal way it is supposed to function. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Please!

most likely there is an issue with the database, which DNN version are you using? - make sure that the database transaction log is truncated on nightly backups - clear table eventlog, e.g. by running "TRUNCATE TABLE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}Eventlog" from inside Host :: SQL module - apply same for Schedule History - Check Host :: scheduler, make sure, there are no jobs running extremely long - Disable all scheduler jobs you don't need - if search job is enabled, clear search tables and re-index: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/AboutDotnetNuke/V3V4TippsTricks/Suchindexlöschen.aspx - In Host Settings, enable compression (gZip)

Sebastion, I will check the database, but since this is a new install, would that be likely? Also, I am running DNN 5, the latest version since one week ago, when I installed it. I have also managed to go in and turn of all but the default authentication provider, I have taken every step by Will Strohls in DotNetNuke Performance Best Practices Guide, by Mitchel Sellers, and I have done the same with this forum thread about the performance settings.  I have even tried installing YSlow in using FireFox. Even my local setup runs slow, although it is faster than the remote version, it is still relatively slow to be running locally.
Local setup is on LAN with web server (IIS6), and SQLSvr 2005 (separate machines), and accessed from different high end desktops running WXP and W7.
And on the remote system, I have turned off the Search Indexing schedule (actually set to once a day).
Again, I offer to supply you with a Host password just so you can look at the settings (if you have a moment to do so). The site is www.ForteFamily.org

Can the site be built locally and then uploaded to the production server intact? Since the extreme delays seem to be affecting the Admin logins (as far as I can tell right now), I can manage much better designing and configuring the sites locally, but I am not sure exactly how to move the whole thing online. Could I overwrite an existing installation completely with the new configured one?

Thank you again for your help.

Have you changes the Cache from Moderate to Heavy ? Also from cache from Disk to Memory, as a test. Maybe your hoster is slow or the memory is not enough, so TEST. Finally is your site ALWAYS slow ? Even after passing from all modules and functions ?

And yes the site can be made locally more or less and moved. Just add the MAIN site (http://www.fortefamily.org/ i guess) also at portal aliases before moving.
