I installed the new version on AVG (10; free) on two machines with Chrome and IE as browsers.  ADMIN functions of DNN sites essentially stopped working with a litany of errors, mostly 64-bit and/or encryption related.

Long story short, the new Surf-Shield, part of LinkScanner, was/is the culprit and turning it (alone) off solved the issues.  I won't tell y'all how long it took to narrow that down; having several computers helps sometimes...  

Hope this helps somebody...
