Hi All,

I am using Dotnetnuke 5.5 along with the IIS 5.1 version. I have tried to create multiple sites on a single domain but could not succeed.
I got the error "Address Not Found"

Please help me out  how to host multiple portals(sites) on a single instance of Dotnetnuke ? Or is it supported on IIS 5.1 version or not (which version supported by Dotnet nuke)

Thanks
Himanshu Bhargav

You can run multiple portals in two manners.

1.) You can use child portals, where each site is a folder under the main.
2.) You can use domain aliases to point multiple aliases to the same web site.

Both methods are supported.

For the second option I mention, you must make sure that the bindings in IIS are setup to route the information to the same location.

Hi Mitchel,

1) I have created second portal as Child portal. For example my main portal is hosted at "http://localhost:2023/DNN1/" so each another Child portal that i would create comes under the main hosted url "http://localhost:2023/DNN1/markabc" etc.

2) I have tried to use your second option for domain aliases. I have given aliases for the second child portal

"http://localhost:2023/DNN1/markabc"  ( Default one - This is working)

markabc.com            ( Aliases - This is not working)

but not able to browse through this url. it gave me error "Address Not Found" However i have tried to find the bindings in IIS 5.1 but dont know where to set all these settings.

I have go through the dotnetnuke user manual for portal creation but did not find anything for IIS 5.1

Please help me or provide any document to setup multiple site hosting with IIS 5.1 with Community edition of dotnetnuke.

Thanks

if you want to access multiple sites by domain name in Windows XP Pro, I suggest using free IISAdmin from www.jetstat.com
