After upgrading from DNN 5.4.2 to 5.5.1 my users have been encountering an error when trying to login to multiple portals at once. If a user is already logged into once portal and they try to create a new tab in IE and navigate to another portal, sometimes they can access the portal without having to log in again but sometimes they need to log into the different portal if their session expires. They report hitting the error usually after session timeouts would most likely occur. These users are all SuperUsers and have access to all parent portals that we have on our site. I have tried setting their IE browser settings to check for newer versions of stored pages: every time they visit the webpage but the error still continues to be a problem. We are not using a web farm.

Yes, I have cleared their browser cache but the error still continues when browsing multiple portals.

I have the exact same issue. Upgraded from 5.5.1 to 5.06.00 and now I'm getting this error. Restarting the IIS Application Pool fixes the problem:
