I'm trying to create a new parent portal.  We have the domain bought and the website created in IIS, pointing to the DotNetNuke folder.  When I go in DNN and create a portal, it creates it, but nothing shows up.  I get the "Could not connect to domain.com" error.  If IIS should be all set and i create the portal, what could be the problem with this?  I've created other parent portals before and those have worked.

If you are creating a new parent portal, set it up as an additional "alias" tot he domain and not a full new website in IIS.  This will cause all kinds of problems.

We actually figured out that it wasn't DNN at all.  I created the parent portal fine, but it wasn't registering with the DNS server so it didn't know what the domain was.  My network admin fixed that and the site came up just fine.
