Can anybody direct me to a good resource for DNN SQL database maintenance?  I'd like to implement some routine "house-cleaning" for my DNN SQL databases.  Things like backing up and cleaning out the transaction log, rebuilding indexes, CheckDB, etc.  I'm hosted with Network Solutions and they offer no help with maintaining the health of a DNN db.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Troy

In general, your database maintenance plan should not really be dependent upon the fact that the database is serving a DNN application, but rather the amount of updates being made, how fast your transaction log fills, and basically all of the other things that you'd be concerned about for nearly any application.

That being said, make sure you have a regular incremental and full backup being generated on a regular basis.  The frequency is up to you, but a general plan that seems to work in many organizations is 3-4 incremental and 1 full backup each week.

As far as DNN is concerned, you will need to ensure that you keep your EventLog and SiteLog tables in check, as (depending on your DNN configuration), these tables can grow quite quickly.

I hate to leave threads hanging in case someone in the future stumbles across this thread in search of the same solution.  The answer is this beautiful blog post by Sebastian Leupold  ... http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/B...

Thanks to Bill Severance for directing me there!
