Hi,

I have a large file with an allowed extension not shoing in a secure folder in the File Manager. I have cheated the file to be there by uploading a smaller file of the same name, then uploading the larger one to replace it by FTP (putting the .resources there manually).

So I can now use LinkClick.aspx to download the file through a URL... and the file shows as only about 1KB in the DNN File Manager, but it does download as 55MB correctly.

The quota is unlimited.

I also get a file not found error after uploading a large file, even though iis6 metabase.xml and the site web.config file allow up to a GB in uploads.

The workaround is temporary, so of course a more permanent solution would be better. But someing is preventing large files from appearing in DNN file manager.

Thanks,

Steve

Ther is a restriction to 8MB on the web.config file, lager files also needed a executionTimeout="1500" or higher to the HttpRunTime.  Then if you upload a file via the telerik Editor there is also a file restriction on 4MB you can change on the xml file on the provider.

Hi Matthias,

Here is that section...

useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true"
maxRequestLength="1048576"
requestLengthDiskThreshold="1048576"
executionTimeout="3600"
/>

The above still does not allow a 55mb upload at 1mb a second (very fast upload).

But what gets me is why the file manager does not show secure downloads over a certain size. There is obviously a setting somewhere... I just do not know what!

Thanks,

Steve

if you upload large files into a secure folder, it needs a specific extension to show up. you may upload to an insecure folder and move your file via filemanager. For uploading, there is a nice free tool called SwfUpload at www.oliverhine.com

Hi Sebastian,

Are you saying I need to add the .resources (e.g. file.zip.resources) extension to the file?

I cannot move the file either (I uploaded to a non secure area first)... I always get "error moving file:portal root\\"... errors, with double backslashes in the path (about 4 groupings of them in the path after root\\).

My portal is portal 1, not 0, if that makes a difference.

I will try the component you mention from Oliver's site.

Thanks!

Steve
