Hi,

My site (www.oilconsolidation.co.uk) supports local buying groups for central heating oil.

Each group has its own page.  The individual group pages are very similar.  I would like a way to create the basic page structure only once, and drive the differences via some kind of parameterization.  For example, the pages:
http://www.oilconsolidation.co.uk/Syn... and http://www.oilconsolidation.co.uk/Syn... have identical structures.  Each has a standard HTML module and three custom modules.  I wrote the custom modules and have complete control over them.  I'm happy to consider changes to them.

I want the pages exposed as separate URL's (for search engine indexing) and I want them to appear in the site menu.  I'm not wedded to the current URL's, I would be prepared to change the URL look and feel.

In a completely ideal world, I would create a new group on the site simply by adding one new row, representing the new group, to one table.  That one row, would cause a new item to appear in the menu, the site would reposnd to the new URL and my custom modules would respond by showing data tailored to the new group.  Is this possible?

Best wishes,

I would use a generic module like XMod or our own Custom Forms and Lists, where you could setup each group as set of connected records - alternatively you may create a custom module for your purpose.

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for the suggestion.

As far as I know items created with form and list, or displayed in a custom module, do not appear in the menu.  Am I wrong there?

It is important to me that each group appears in the menu and has it's own URL.

Best wishes,

providing its own URL won't be an issue, but diplaying each of the urls in the menu is a subject. an alternative might be using a page template, but IMHO it is much more effort to handle it.
