Hi
I am getting 'Service Unavaialble' outages on a relatively frequent basis recently with my DNN site - seems to happen about once or twice a week.
My hoster has given me event log - which says
Application pool 'colossus-it-solutions.co.uk Pool 2.0' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.
They are basically insinuating that there is a bug in DNN (I'm running 05.02.03), or that the memory resources it is requiring are too much for the shared server allocation. Can anyone suggest how I might go about resolving this? How much memory does DNN _need_ ? Is there a known issue with 05.02.03? Is there anywhere I can look for more info on why / where a potential memory leak is ?

Any help really appreciated, I have no idea how to address this, and of course customers are very upset by long site outages!

Thanks all
Rob

I've been doing some delving - and running the site locally on my dev box I get a fairly rapid climb up to over 200Mb aspnet_wp.exe 11mb inetinfo.exe That seems a very big chunk of memory and one I'm not suprised the app pool isnt happy about! Is this sort of number usual - or is there something funny going on? aspnet_wp.exe memory usage sometimes jumps up to 10Mb each time I hit a page as it gets up to over 200Mb .. which doesnt seem quite right? I also relatively recently added MSChart to DNN - could this be having an effect?

First thing you should do is check out the Event Viewer and see whats failing.
Seconldy on your dev box IIS and SQL Server will grab whatever resources they can whether they need it or not so 200MB for the worker process is not unusual.
The Event Viewer should give you an idea of whats going on.
You can also set it to email you when its approaching "trouble time" and use it as an alarm.

Hi Phillip, Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, there is nothing untoward in the event viewer .. so this leads me to think that maybe there is nothing wrong with DNN / my install, it's just that my hosting company has maybe squeezed too many people on the shared server and there simply arent enough resources to go round. Would this seem to be a likely explanation? Thanks Rob

That never happens :)
You could try setting your site up on another hosting company with a diff URL.  Make it easy and use the evotiva backup move restore tool.
Hope you figure it out.
