I have a DNN 4.9.5 site that I'd like to upgrade to the 5.x code base.  I keep a copy of this site on my laptop for experiment.  In November I upgraded the test site to DNN 5.5.1 to see if my installed modules worked; one or two needed updating, and I couldn't find the Install Available Extensions button on the Host --> Extensions page.  This turned out to be a problem with the outdated skin (DNN-Gray) which our production site uses.  I installed the MinimalExtropy skin 1.0.7 and the button was there.  I then started to experiment with the skin, which doesn't look good with our site - my only changes so far are font sizes in the menus, and the height of the logo_pad element.  We may buy a commercial skin, we haven't decided.  But now I'm using a very slightly modified MinimalExtropy skin.

One of the modules I use is the Gallery module, and in November the new version which runs on 5.x was still in beta, so I set the project aside.  Gallery 4.3.3 is now out, so I downloaded it to install it - and the Install Available Extensions button is gone!  It doesn't seem to be the browser, I have the same problem in FireFox 3.6.13 and IE8.  Logged in as host, there is NO Install Available Extensions button in the bottom right corner of the Extensions page.  Any suggestions?  Help?  I was told that this should be on the "Action" menu for Extensions but I can't find an "Action" menu for Extensions.

Infuriatingly, this was working in November, and I haven't touched it since, except to display the test site to a colleague.

please make sure, you are in Edit mode in the control panel. If you are looking for a powerful gallery, check out SimpleGallery from www.ventrian.com or UltraGallery on Snowcovered.com.

D'Oh!  This isn't even the first time View mode has bitten me.  Thank you, I'm sure that was it.  And thanks for the suggestions on the other galleries, I'll check them out if they aren't too expensive - we're an arts nonprofit and our budget is not what it once was...

I had a similar frustration!  You know what I figured out?  The Extensions link in the control panel does NOT go to the Extensions page... it goes to the Module Definitions page!  One major difference between the two being that missing button.

The button you are looking for is on the Extensions page... if you look at the Host console (accessible either by clicking host in the control panel or the host link in the menu), you'll see link for Extensions.  That one will have the link you're looking for!

Most of time, I just install install extensions by uploading from a local source (no real need ftp and then install).  But when you're looking for that button it is a little irritating.

Cheers!

Thanks, Scott, but Sebastian was right - I was in View mode   I was on the Extensions page and still couldn't see the button, and it was entirely User Error...
