Hi, I'm trying to set up a copy of my production site on my laptop for testing purposes. I'm running Windows 7, IIS 7.5, SQL Server 2008, DNN 5.6.0. The problem is, when I try to access my local site (i.e., http://localhost), it redirects me to my live production site.

Here are the steps I've followed so far:

  1. Added a portal alias on my production site called "mysite.local".
  2. Downloaded a backup of my production site and database.
  3. Restored my production database to my laptop.
  4. Created the database account for DNN on my laptop.
  5. Copied my site files (i.e., everything in the httpdocs folder from my production site backup) to C:\inetpub\wwwroot on my laptop.
  6. Added two entries to the "hosts" file on my laptop (127.0.0.1 localhost, 127.0.0.1 mysite.local).
  7. Modified the connection string in my web.config (located in C:\inetpub\wwwroot) to point to the database on my laptop (server=localhost).
  8. Reset IIS (multiple times via "iisreset" command).
  9. Cleared browser cache.
  10. Restarted laptop.
  11. Shutdown laptop.

Despite everything I've done, when I navigate to http://localhost or http://mysite.local it redirects me to my live production site. Have I missed a step somewhere?

Thanks, Joan
