Hi

Is there a way to format the human friendly url that DNN generates?

At present it generates a url like this : http://www.site.com/pagename.aspx

I want it to generate a url like this: http://www.site.com/page-name.aspx

This is specifically for SEO, and I would assume that DotNetNuke would be on top of a simple issue such as this. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I suggest having a look at UrlMaster by www.ifinity.com.au

Hi Sebastian

Yes I have seen it - was hoping there would be a way to do it without having to spend $120 ...

I was hoping that DNN would have this type of functionality built in - apparently not it seems, which is a great pity for such a good CMS ... it seems to drop the ball on issues that are actually quite important (such as SEO).

Sian: I have also expressed many times that in 2011 the URL structure of DNN is nothing to write home about (to be gentle).

Looking at modern CMS in NET or php or whatever, you can see what a SEO (and user) friendly URL actually is.

DNN is NOT very SEO friendly, trust me on this. While google has no problem in indexing those long url paths, it is not the way to go.

I hope DNN guys will have a better solution for this in the future...

Costas, I totally agree with you. I have worked with a number fo other CMS systems (drupal, wordpress etc etc), and as far as I am concerned DNN is one of teh easier ones to use. It is almost inconceivable that DNN has not yet addressed as fundamentally important an issue as this. Is there nowhere we can lodge feature requests to the core team? I personally think this should be at the top of the list - I mean really - how difficult can it be to add a hyphen in between the words of the url? Lets hope the core team members read this post and act on it.
