Hi,

We've been using DNN for a few years now on Win Server 2003 and IIS 6 but have now got to the stage where we need a new server and are moving to a Win Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5 environment.  We have multiple sites on our DNN installation.  Some of the sites, which are all set up as parent portals, have addresses such as www.domain.com/site where www.domain.com represents one site and www.domain.com/site is a different site.  Previously we've done this by creating a virtual directory called site under the web site for www.domain.com and pointing that to the DNN installation and setting it to be an application.  When I try and recreate this structure within IIS 7.5 any attempts to access www.domain.com/site result in a 500.19 error saying "Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'add' with unique key attribute 'name' set to 'LogoffHandler*' ".  It seems that the web.config file is being processed twice now - trying to inherit the one from www.domain.com and also loading it from www.domain.com/site and because it is in fact the same physical file IIS sees it as duplicating all the attributes.

I can't see anything specifically related to this issue via a Google search - there are lots of instances where 2 different web.config files are in conflict but this is the same file so I can't remove any duplications.

Has anyone else experienced this and solved it or have we been using the portals incorrectly?

Thanks in advance.

Gareth Barnes
