Hi,

Can someone help please?
I've managed to install DNN on godaddy (after many attempts) finally got it working.
I now want to direct the site to the domain name without the sub folder that it was installed on.
eg. www.site.com - instead of www.site.com/dnn

My www.site.com, has been having a page 404 error problem since i installed and reinstalled it many times, is this a godaddy or DNN problem that needs fixing? I figured, once i got it installed successfully on a sub folder, and redirect/fix the port alias then this 404 error will go away.

So, i logged in as host and try to update the domain name thru the Host > Portals setting and clicked on the redirect to the www.site.com
Now site is redirected to the main website with that 404 error. I can't access the login to go into Host to change it back. How can i access the site again to login and change back the settings?

Please help?
Thanks.

You can get back your portal alias through the database. I'm not sure how it can be done with godaddy. As I know they have internal database management tool and accept connecting to database remotely. In database you should find table called "PortalAlias" and open it for edit. There you should find your record with alias "www.site.com" and change it back, if you have only one portal there is only one record.

Regarding removing sub-folder.
There are two possible option:
1) You have web site on your IIS that binds with your www.site.com. When you configuration your dnn instance you propably create child sub-portal (child sub-portal is portal that have alias with subfolder). In this case you can add new alias "www.site.com", and your portal must be accessible through this name.
2) You have web-directory(or web-application) named dnn inside web-site - www.site.com. In that case you can't access to the site directly through "www.site.com". You should configurate dnn instance in root of your site.
