Hi,

I recently installed Dnn on my godaddy hosting account and built a site. The site was located at mydomain/dotnetnuke
I accidentaly set up a forwarding in my Site settings to point from www.mydomain/dotnetnuke - to www.mydomain which was currently showing the default godaddy landing page "something cool comming soon"  there is also an index file in my godaddy root folder that points mydomain/dotnetnuke to mydomain (this was the proper forwarding method).

There is now a "forwarding loop" that is going nowhere and I am locked out of my site and unable to fix the problem. This site is for an upcoming festival and needs to go live the day before yesterday and im about to get an ear full.

How do I remove the forwarding I added to the dnn site settings using the Godaddy file manager/database? is it even posible to edit site settings this way?

-please advise, thanks

you need to modify site setting directly in the database, table PortalSettings. You need to restart the application to make database changes becoming effective.

Thanks for the response,

Could you give a little more detail, when im in the godaddy sql database I can see the portal settings but it is just a row in a table, there is no visible way to make any changes.

Launch Hosting Control Center and go to DataBases, MS SQL, and connect [need db name and PW handy]

After connecting, view tables by clicking the Tables icon
Go to the table you want to change, such as PortalAlias
Click on the very first Action icon to the right of the Rows column [View Contents]
Go to the row you wish to edit [default is 10 rows per page...]
On the far left click on the edit icon (typical pencil w/eraser...)
Make your change
Click on Update

Hope this helps.

Keep in mind I haven't a clue what to modify or how...

Can you break the 'loop' by adding the App_Offline.htm file approach in your 'dnn' directory [like via FTP File Manager]??

Why not simply kill your offending 'index.htm' file that is causing the loop?

I apologize if I'm not understanding but I've used both the above to kill loops before on GoDaddy specifically...
