I'm having an issue that seems to be related to folder permissions.

On my portal, I've designated a required custom profile field of type "file upload". My portal registration is setup such that they are asked to provide this file upload *during* registration, but when they attempt to upload the file, they receive an error such as:

You Do Not Have Sufficient Permission To Write To Folder Users/255/01/-1/. Please Contact Your Hosting Provider To Ensure The Appropriate Security Settings Have Been Enabled On The Server.

It's not clear to me how to go about granting permission necessary to be able to support this, or if something else is going wrong. These folders seem to be "dynamic", so I don't think I can simply grant write privileges to them using the file manager, since they seem to be created dynamically and don't necessarily exist until someone attempts to register (maybe I'm mistaken?)..any help or guidance appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

As far as I know, the user isn't granted the appropriate permissions until after they are completely registered/created. Anytime before hand, they are simply public which is restricting their capabilities of uploading.

One thing you could maybe try would be to experiment with the write permissions on the User folder in the file manager to see if it will allow this behavior before they are registered. Maybe try assigning write permissions for 'All Users' or 'Unauthenticated User' on that folder. I'm not sure what all potential side effects you could run into with this (uploading to wrong/other users folders maybe?) but it could be worth a shot. Hope this helps.

Thanks - I had actually already attempted, as a brute-force measure, to add "Everyone" "Full Access" in the Windows filesystem security settings for the specific folder in question, just to isolate the issue, and even though the folder in question currently shows that "Everyone" has full rights, I still get this error. I've also gone into the DNN file system security settings for this folder and given "Unauth User" "Write" privileges, and I *still* get this error!

I feel like I'm missing something basic here - any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help,
Bob
