Hi,
All "LinkClick.aspx" links on my website have stopped working, with this error - Resource cannot be found (HTTP 404). I can open the file with a direct link. I tried re-adding the links. doesn't help :(
I saw some suggestions for checking the web.config file for entries under <handlers> and <httpHandlers> tags. They look ok.
What else could be the problem?
I am not sure how and when this error started happening, but I upgraded to 5.6.2 last month.

Any help/suggestions appreciated!

Please help!!!!!!!!!
I am totally stuck right now. The only option seems to be to change all links to "direct links". Can someone please tell me if there is any harm in going with "direct links" instead of LinkClick?

Hi,

You need to have this in the handlers section of the web.config to handle the actual linkclick

<add name="LinkClickHandler" path="LinkClick.aspx" verb="*" type="DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler, DotNetNuke" preCondition="integratedMode" />

Also, if you installed some kind of urlrewriter module or seo optimization type of module, there may be additional settings on the module to handle linkclick urls. (this is the most likely issue.)

You may want to check the EventLog to see if there's any kind of error being captured in regards to your link.

Last, does this happen only with older links or new links as well?

Cheers,
Cristian

can you be more specific?  Give a step by step example.  Is your problem reporducible on a test environment?

Thank you for the reply, Cristian.

I checked my web.config, and it does have that "<add>" tag in the handlers section.
I am not sure if any urlrewriter or seo optimization module has been installed or not. This is a website that has been handed over to me for maintenance, without any documentation of course :( Could you please show me how to determine that?

I checked the Event Viewer page, but nothing has been recorded there.

I confirmed that the problem happens with both old and new links, as well as old and newly added files.
