In reading press releases about DNN 6, there is supposed to be fewer page loads for administration tasks but I am not seeing it.  Is there a setting I need to look for?  For example, when I log into DNN, I get the modal popup but after I press the login button, the modal popup goes away and there is still a page refresh.  Same happens when in page or module settings.  The settings open in the modal popup and when you press update, the modal popup goes away and then the page reloads.

Is there an AJAX setting that needs to be enabled?

the page loads are necessary because usually something changes on the page (either menu, or content). You still get less page loads, because you used to go to a different page, and back again.

While I get that there are some reasons for a page refresh - the one I really dont get is why there needs to be a page refresh if I close the popup using the X to close button.

Hit Register - damm didn't mean to - hit close - why does the page refresh - surely there is not logical reason why it should do so in this case.

The reality is that it is difficult to know whether the underlying page needs to be refreshed because we don't have complete control over the code running in the popup.  Did someone include a link in their control which made an AJAX call?  Did the control have some side-effect as part of the loading process which needs to be accounted for?  As we were developing the popups we found a number of use cases where we couldn't easily determine with certainty whether the underlying page needed updating or not.  Given the limited time we had to deal with this particular set of behaviors we erred on the side of predictability rather than leaving the user guessing whether the current page was correct.  As we have time to do further analysis we'll tweak the behavior to eliminate unnecessary refreshes wherever we can.

closing a popup using close button leads into a page refresh, even if no "update" has been clicked - IMHO this should be treated like cancel.
