I created a dotnetnuke60 subdirectory in my root and then placed my dnn install there.
When I go to the home page using
www.firstriends.com, my site shows correctly. Anytime I go to any of my other pages, it shows the dotnetnuke60 directory.
I want to REMOVE this directory from the url. How do I do it?
For example,
If you click on About Us, then on Location ... it shows:
I want it to show:
without the dotnetnuke60 directory. It looks ugly. I am sure this is a very simple fix but could not find it anywhere in the forums.
I am very new to DNN and I am very surprised as to how little info there is out there about DNN. I know of this forum and DNN Creative...and I know there is a lot of content out there but nothing real clear. I am sure that it does not help people are running on many different flavors (versions) of DNN.
In reference to my question, it seems like a lot of steps to fix the problem are OLD and outdated. I am new and I do not know much of the terminology. Will Host Headers, port aliases, url rewriting, masking, etc help?
It seems like this is a very common issue with no clear cut solution.
I know GoDaddy is not the perfect solution for hosting DNN because of the lack of access to the root. However, GoDaddy does allow you to host multiple sites by creating directories and specifying them as applications in IIS.
While PowerDNN may be a better solution for DNN it does not allow me to host all my applications there (the non DNN sites). GoDaddy does, while a bit more cumbersome for DNN. It seems odd that just because we move a DNN site into a subdirectory (as GoDaddy forces) it would cause all this havoc. There should be a simple setting somewhere to remedy this.
Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Please point me in the right direction.
Thank you very much,
Richard
