Hey all, hopefully someone can shead some light on this for me.

I am running a site with child portals and just noticed today that when I try to enter the "User Accounts" sections on the parrent portal or the child portals to edit user accounts I get the big red sign and the messages "An error has occurred." - "Error: User Accounts is currently unabailable"

Now I can see the first page of users on the parrent portal, but once I try to go to additional pages I get the error. On the child portals I can not even see page one. I am not sure where to even start to try and track down this problem. To me the database seems intact when viewing it through the usercp of my hosting company, and everything else on the site seems to work fine. New users can register, logon, post and the lot, but loged on as admin or host I can not do anything with the user accounts.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is big, I hope someone can help me, if not I am afraid I may have to kill the site and start all over, this will really peeve of the child portal owners and likely will cuase them to not come back.

So I am begging for a little advice here.

I feel for you - I have the same issue but on my development sandbox system.  I am trying to find resolution to this and will let you knowwhat I find out.

Have you checked these posts and ran the SQL query there to see if your membership table is out of synch?  I think my error is with deletion of users, but I can't pin it down.

I just fixed my issue on my sandbox.  I had set it up originally with standard authentication, and then switched to AD/Windows auth.  I then undid the settings for this - after creating two accounts to test (by loggin in).  One had an e-mail missing (test account) - but even after filling that in it was still broken

Only after I deleted these two domain users using sp : aspnet_Users_DeleteUser manually from QA.  There must have been some other place where the user data was out of synch, but I could not find it.  This deletion worked though.

Hope it helps you in some manner.
