After searching the forums and Google for a resolution to my problem, I'm resorting to begging for help. :-)

We've been experiencing Telerik editor problems on two different sites -- both using DNN 5.6.1 CE -- for some months now.
  • Copy and Paste errors
  • Disappearing content
  • Malformed HTML tags
  • Re-ordered content after Update
I was hoping the upgrade to DNN 5.6.3 would solve the problems, but no luck.

The upgrade process itself was smooth. We skipped 5.6.2, and never had the "Telerik 6" provider installed, so we avoided THAT pain anyway.

Is there a documented procedure for "fixing" Telerik problems? Yeah, stupid question, I know. I'm sure there are tons of  "hacks" but I don't want a hack. I want a stable provider that can be upgraded.

What is the "recommended" HTML editor provider for DNN 5.6.3??? I'm aware of the dnnWerk and CK providers, but many of our content editors are novices, and switching providers will cause some confusion. I'll go that route if I have to.

Is it possible to install the RADEditor Provider from DNN 6.0.1 without upgrading DNN? Yeah, stupid question, I know, but I had to ask... Or is upgrading to DNN6 the only way to get the new editor?

Thanks.

I have given up on the Telerik editor for anything but the most trivial changes. What Telerik 'displays' does not bear any resemblance to what my pages actually look like.

The only reliable way to edit the HTML is to go into HTML mode, copy the raw HTML as plain text, paste it into a real editor, change it in the editor, then paste the result back into the Web interface, and click 'Save'.

That way, you escape Telerik's nasty trick of 'fixing' your errors by deleting any and all malformed HTML. As a bonus, you can save the HTML to your local drive, as a back-up in case you flub something.

Thanks for the reply. Using HTML view is acceptable for most of the site admins, but our volunteer content editors can't be expected to deal with these awful problems. Unless we upgrade to DNN6, I guess we'll have to replace Telerik with something else...

Went ahead and installed the DNNWerk editor, and it is a lot better. But now there's a maximum file upload size problem. I'll post a separate item and see what happens...
