Hello all,

I am using DNN 6.02 and has a problem with popup closing after logging in. Every thing works fine in 6.01 and after I upgrade into 6.02, the login popup does not close after clicking on Login button. It just splashes and remains there and I have to close (X button at top right) the login popup then it takes me to home page with logged status. How to make the popup close automatically (by default I think) after logging in.

Thank you very much,
CT

its supposed to close automatically, there are some anecdotal reports that it doesnt if a redirect happens to an altered domain e.g. a mysite.com popup redirects to www.mysite.com and the popup isnt intelligent enough to realise this. Please run a trace with a http proxy tool such as fiddler that will allow you to see the urls and post them back. The other thing that can happen is that the page that it redirects to contains invalid html/javascript and causes the popup javascript to break - i recommend changing to the default skin to test to see if the issue is caused by your skin or not.

I had the same problem with the login box not closing, and was able to stop it by logging in as SuperUser and going to Host Settings -> Performance Settings and changing the Compression setting from 'GZip' to 'No Compression'.

The fix was immediate.

As a test I restarted the site, turned GZip back on, and the problem came back immediately. Changing back again fixed it, so I think the issue is there.

My other Performance settings are:
Module Cache Provider: File
Cache Setting: Moderate
Authenticated cacheability: Public
Use whitespace filter: checked.

this is very odd- that configuration works fine for almost all users so there is something site-specific at play here - what version of IIS are you using, what version of .net is the application pool, and what type of pipeline (classic/integrated) are you using? Are you also using IIS compression or a 3rd party module such as pageblaster? Finally, do you have any rewrite modules such a iFinity?
