single sign on with which software?
in an intranet, you may use AD Provider, if you are running an active directory.

This is a very good question.  I hope someone that actually knows can provide an answer.  Just to clarify what I believe the OP is asking is if the new single sign-on feature of 6.1 will be made available to CE.

Site Groups

The Professional and Enterprise versions of DotNetNuke 6.1 provide a new capability to simplify the management of users across multiple websites. In addition to a single sign-on capability for content owners, a simplified set of administration screens allows administrators to set up and manage granular permissions for the same users across many different sites.
This is a feature that many of us in the Community would like.

It is possible to use SSO in DNN 6.1. One option is what Sebastian suggested, and there is a new option currently only available in the commercial editions (PE and EE). As for making the new feature available in CE, the API’s are available but not he UI, and in the short term there are no plans of back-porting the UI to CE
