I'm trying to understand why the token  [profile:PreferredTimezone] contains something other than what is selected in the time zone selection dropdown.  The reason I ask is because this is a standard naming convention and would be useful as profile field or token.  For example: "(GMT-05:00) Eastern Time" from the dropdown is replaced with "Eastern Standard Time".  Is there anyway to change or edit this and if so any issues with doing so?

please be aware that we finally got the chance to replace custom timezones by Windows time zones, which properly support all special cases AND Daylight Savings Time. While there is some backwards compatibilty issue, there is great benefit for all modules, to rely on GMT and new time zones.Unfortunately, this required minor tweaks on user profile api which should be easy to resolve. please don NEVER rely on names instead of IDs (especially in an international i.e. localized environment).

Cheers from Germany,
