Hello,

I'd like to make a user profile property type that allows users to add tags to their profile. The case is these will be "research areas" for some academics. I'd like to be able to use one of the vocabulary lists and have users select one or more tags for their account.

First, is this possible natively? Second, is there a way I can write a custom property type?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

If I'm not misunderstanding you and the vocabulary lists you mentioned are some fixed values, you can archive this by "Manage Profile Properties":

Hi Eileen,

Thanks for your detailed reply. I am not sure this works for what I was going for though...

The list types allow you to select a single entry from a list right? I want users to be able to mark multiple entries. For example, I'd like to have a list of 100 tags, and a user could mark 10 of them. Is something like that possible?

Thanks,

Mike

yes, you can create your own custom profile properties - see http://www.charlesnurse.com/post/The-DotNetNuke-Property-Editors-Part-5-Creating-a-simple-EditControl.aspx for an example.
