I need to setup user registration with some sort of passcode.

More Info:

We email our customers some sort of multicharacter string that they enter when they register with our site. Once that string is used with a succesful registration it can't be used again.  There has to be some sort of module to do this, but I haven't been able to find it.

I could write our own module, but hate reinventing the wheel.

FYI, that's actually how Verified registration works. Someone registers, the system sends them an email including a confirmation code which they have to enter on their first login.

Actually what I want is something different.  The most basic explaination is that the passcode comes first.

Full Scenario

We have an e-commerce site in which a user can purchase ids among other things. The user is emailed the passcode(s) and can go directly to the site to sign up with those codes. As part of the registration they enter that one time use pass code.

We absolutely want to avoid any human interaction

Ah, never heard of anything that does that (that's not to say there isn't).
