Hi folks

I want to make the Tool menu visible to a new security role (not the full administrator role) and grant them permission to Add User, Add Role and Upload File. Note: I have been able to give this new security role permission to access User Accounts and Security Role pages and modules under the Admin menus, no problems there... it is the Tools menu I am currently flummoxed by because I don't see it under Admin>Page Management..

I am sure it is dead easy. But right this minute I can't figure out how.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Geoffrey

I believe it is injected when superusers are detected (as it contains elements such as recycling the app that should only be done by superusers). As such I dont expect us to add a configuration setting to open this option up - if you want to do so then clone the existing iconbar panel and apply your own logic (and change the selected control panel under host settings)

That's interesting. I only raised the question because when I created a Security Role with access to some of the Admin pages they also saw the Tools tab up there beside Admin but with no link buttons under it. So I though it would be nice if I could grant permission to some of that functionality.

I can see that cloning and tweaking the iconbar would work. But maybe there ought to be an easier way to do this or else the Tools tab should be suppressed so no one but Admin and Host can see it.

Really?  Who said so...   after spending an hour trying to find this in the db I now see it's not configurable.   I assume there wasn't time to make this like every other menu item, configurable!

I mean if an Admin user can delete every page on the site, surely they can clear the cache.  I'm assuming Clear Cache in your opinion should only be done by super users too?

That's the worse part..  now even Admin vs Host options under Tools are not configurable.
