This is hilarious. I post this issue about a meta tag refresh and, of course, when I include the refresh tag in the text, it screws up the display of the post- MY BAD! Here it is again -

I placed a Meta tag Refresh (with a redirect to another page)  in a page in a DNN page (not the Home page) that I wanted to redirect anyone coming to the page to the page specified in Meta tag url parameter -

        meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="30;url="site name"

I edited the page content and placed the the above Meta tag within <head></head> tags. However, whenever I go to the default.aspx (Home) page or any page in my DNN site for that matter, the redirect fires and displays the target page specified in the Redirect.

This effectively makes it nearly impossible for me to now access my DNN site pages. I have been able to get to certain pages by clicking the browser's Stop button. I even deleted the page that contained the Redirect code. However, the code must be stored in a global area somewhere because the redirect is still occurring. I have deleted every page except the Home page, emptied the Recycle Bin, emptied the cache, and recycled the application pool, and the Redirect is still executing.

Short of resetting the DNN database, I don't know how to remove the Redirect code so that I can again work with my DNN project.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I realize now I shoudl have placed the meta Refresh in the separate Head section within the Page setting.

Thanks,
 David Hynes

How did you make this change? Editing the default.aspx file on the file system?

First of all, thanks for your reply!

I had added a page named "Community." I edited the contents of the Community page using the RadEditor and added the meta Refresh tag within <head></head> tags.

However, when I submitted the change, the browser window began redirecting to the fake page name in the meta Refresh tag. So I figured, I would just close the browser, reopen it, and edit the page removing the meta tag.

But, after closing and reopening the browser and going to the default.aspx page, it did the same thing - redirecting to the fake site. I was only able to get into DNN by hitting the browser Stop button to prevent the page from redirecting to the fake page.

I was able to delete all the pages except the Home page. That's the only page I wanted to save because I had done a lot of work on it. I was able to edit the Home page contents and it was blank. However, I got the following error in a popup before the RadEditor was displayed -

Error! Set EditContentAreaMode to Iframe if you want to edit full page HTML.

I would think that might be telling me that I'm unable to see some HTML in the Edit area thus not being able to see the meta tag in order to delete it. I have no idea what the error means or how to make the change to remove the error.

I was also getting this error when I tried to edit the Community page where I had entered the meta Refresh tag. I saw nothing in the RadEditor but I did delete that page and it does not show as a page on the site any longer.

Something funky is definitely going on here. I am dead in the water and unable to further work with my site. I'm really scratching my head how that one meta tag could have caused this problem.

Any thoughts?
David

When you say you edited the properties of the Community page, do you mean you edited the PAGE SETTINGS for that page? Or you edited a module on the page?

I edited a Module. I entered the meta Refresh tag into a Module on the Community page using the RadEditor.
