Hi Nukers,

Since upgrading to DNN6, the new text editor is RadEditor.  I am trying to insert an image, but instead of a simple URL, or browse, it appears you have to use the Image Manager and browse to a file that's already uploaded to your system.

Have I missed something?  Is there a way just to specify a URL for an image?...or do you have to do this through HTML?

Even on this site, trying to embed an image, I have to use the Image Manager, and I can browse all of the folders and select pictures.  Here's one I got from  /Portals/25/Blog/Users/sbwalker/shaun_walker_color_headshot_small.jpg

Are we supposed to browse the DNN mothership portals like this?

Thanks,

Rod

when you use the image manager from the menu bar of the radeditor, you will be browsing the file structure of your website. It will contain the files you installed from DNN 6.

If you select the images folder, you will see the installed images. If you want something of your own, you will see an upload option at the top of your browsing pop-up. That will let you set up a list of files for uploading to your website, carry out the upload and then let you choose one to use and insert into the document / page you are editing with radeditor.

Thanks Duane,

The issue I have with this is that the simple act of adding an image to a HTML box requires you to navigate a folder structure. Where is the simple text box for pasting a link to an image?

Also, does anyone else think it's weird to be able to browse around the folder structure of another companies web intallations? Surely this is could be a security risk? You can see the names of folder, name of people, names of project etc.

I'm having the same issue. I don't want my users uploading a bunch of images that are already stored elsewhere.  I'd like them to be able to just refer to the image URL without having to teach them HTML.

It's annoying and cloogy but here's what you do.

Have a small dummy image available in the default folder. select image manager and then select the dummy image and insert. Once inserted, right click the image and select properties. Here you can paste in your image URL in the image src box and clear the dimensions so it will take the dimensions of the actual image.
