Hello All,

This is my first post here at DNN.com, so be kind!  I have a website that is NOT a DNN site as of right now, and I'm using forms authentication with that site.  I want to add a DNN section to this site and am not sure how to handle the authentication into the DNN site.  Ideally, the user will not enter a user name and password as they've already done that, so is there a way that I can send the user's user name and password to DNN on the back end and have it authenticate correctly w/o the user seeing the login screen?

I'm using DNN 6.1.3 for my testing as we haven't deployed the site yet, I just keep moving up to the most current version.  Any help would be tremendously appreciated!

thanks,

Jim P.

Hi Jim,

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think there are a few ways you could handle this...

First, you could make a custom login provider for DNN that can somehow check for data from your other application, or query it somehow, to handle the login.

Second, you could create a service or something with DNN that your app calls to perform the login. In either case, DNN's API has everything you should need to get the users logged in.

You may have to work out some way to synchronize the users across the two systems.

Hope this helps,

Mike
