Hi guys,

I am new to DNN, I am having some difficulties with configuration so user stays logged in all the time.

I have changed settings below, so timeout (cookies session) lasts longer, but soon as user closes a browser it logs him out.

<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="45000" cookieless="UseCookies" slidingExpiration="true"/>
</authentication>

I don't have remember me tick box on my site, so I am wondering is it possible even when users closes browser to stay logged in when he returns to site. I have searched for hours but haven't found proper answer yet.

Thanks,

please see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/PersistentCookieTimeout.aspx for how to set the timeout, and see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Disabling-support-for-persistent-cookies.aspx to enable the remember me checkbox

Thanks for answer.

Is there a way, without enabling "remember me" box, to keep user logged in when they close browser.

no, by default we use temporary cookies which have short life spans and clear when browsers close as that is the most secure setup - the remember me checkbox tells DotNetNuke to create a persistent cookie. You could of course create your own authentication provider and set the value rather than determine it based on the checkbox.

I have followed steps above, but "remember me" check box doesn't appear, and browser still clears cookies.
Is it possible that I have older version of DNN ?
